You know when life throws you a "full circle moment" and you know you're right where you need to be? Yeah - that is how this story starts.
After moving from Timmins in 2001, and before the invention of social media, I lost touch with lots of friends up north. While chatting in the DMs of Instagram with an AirBnB, one of those long lost friends resurfaced. It was a no brainer - we needed to go and check out her slice of heaven.
We loaded The Paddy with friends, bevvies, floaties and an abundance of food and headed north.
The Temperance Lakehouse is exactly what you need for a weekend away. The cottage was bright, clean and had everything we needed. The upstairs bedroom was where I laid my head for the night. It was spacious and had a walk out balcony that was just begging for a morning coffee.
We swam and floated on some truly Canuck floaties from our friends at Float.Eh, kayaked, and enjoyed some DockTails (cocktails on the dock, duh!)
Ashley took us for the maiden voyage in their boat and brought us out to a beautiful rock bluff that was christened BearBum Rock after some impromptu skinny dipping (or chunky dunking, whatever you wanna call it). The only things we were wearing when we jumped in were our Camp Counsellor and Bush League ball caps! Then we headed back to warm our sun kissed skin by a cozy campfire where 2 friends caught up on 20 years of life.
It was such a great weekend made even better by a late night hot tub listening to the loons on the lake.
The morning coffee was sipped with our new friends the heron and muskrat. A perfect morning lakeside.
Ashley and Mike were gracious hosts, readily available to answer our questions, and even brought extra firewood for us (she must've remembered how Marchands like to burn a hot fire). We can't wait to come back in the winter and see what mischief we can get up to... although I imagine BearBum Rock will be a bit chilly in February ;)
When you book a stay at The Temperance Lakehouse, tell them Bear+Fox sent ya ;)
